Katakolo is a charming seaside town on the western coast of the Peloponnese, Greece. Known for its relaxed atmosphere and beautiful harbor, it is the gateway to the legendary site of Ancient Olympia. Visitors often choose Katakolo to enjoy authentic Greek life, fresh seafood, and the stunning Ionian coastline. Whether you're arriving from a cruise or exploring mainland Greece, this small port town promises a warm welcome and plenty of things to see and do nearby.

A Brief Look at the Past

Once a modest fishing village with a strategic location, the port became an important trading post in the 19th century. Today, its historical warehouses and neoclassical buildings give the town a unique charm, while its proximity to Olympia connects it deeply to the origins of the Olympic Games.
